Parker about Cristal Champagne Brut 2016
The 2016 Cristal is a taut, incisive rendition of this benchmark bottling, unwinding in the glass with youthfully reserved aromas of citrus oil, white flowers, wet stones and subtle hints of sweet, buttery pastry. Medium to full-bodied, chiseled and racy, it's almost as electric as the brilliant 2013, with serious concentration, a pure core of fruit, chalky structuring dry extract and a long, intense mineral finish. Given its tightly wound profile, my advice is to forget it in the cellar for a few years and work on the more open, outgoing 2014 in the meantime.

Suckling over Cristal Champagne Brut 2016
This has wonderfully pure fruit aromas, such as peaches, Asian pears and golden apples, alongside lemon curd, gingerbread, chalk and jasmine. Rock salt and oyster shells follow on the palate, which is so seamless that you barely notice the super-fine bubbles. It's concentrated yet gentle at the same time, with impressive resolution and integration of all components. Salty and creamy at the very long finish. Fantastic! 58% pinot noir and 42% chardonnay.

Cristal Champagne Brut 2016

The Cristal Champagne Brut 2016 presents itself with a crystalline clarity and remarkable finesse that confirms its legendary reputation. The nose opens with a harmonious balance of white flowers, citrus fruits, and a hint of toasted almonds. These are complemented by subtle nuances of fresh brioche and mineral notes that reflect the wine's origins in the finest vineyards in Champagne.
The palate displays brilliant precision and elegance. The fine perlage carries aromas of yellow peach, ripe pear, and candied lemon, while a subtle hint of honey and salty minerality extends the finish. The acidity is perfectly integrated and lively, giving the wine a radiant freshness. The texture is supple yet focused, with impressive depth and complexity. A masterful example of the exceptional potential of the 2016 vintage, accessible now but destined to unfold its full potential over the coming decades. A champagne of the utmost refinement, offering both pleasure and depth.
