Parker about Hipping Riesling Großes Gewächs Double Magnum Auction Wine 2023
The Nierstein 2023 Hipping Riesling GG is pure, finely reductive and crystalline as well as saline on the nose. Generous, lush and savory on the palate, this is a very fine, seamlessly textured and persistently saline as well as finely tannic hipping. Tasted as a sample in May 2024, the wine was to be bottled in July this year, but it won't be released until May 2025.

Suckling over Hipping Riesling Großes Gewächs Double Magnum Auction Wine 2023
Great Amalfi lemon, pineapple, wildflower and flint intensity is married to a minerally and racy strictness that might shock some. But as this aerates in the glass, it expands in an incredible way. The interplay of wet stones and salty character with peachiness on the medium-bodied palate is off the scale. Extremely focused and deep finish. Great aging potential, but you can drink it from release.

Hipping Riesling Großes Gewächs Double Magnum Auction Wine 2023

The 2023 Hipping Riesling Großes Gewächs auction wine from Keller is a stunning masterpiece of Rheinhessen Riesling and an outstanding example of the fine art of winemaking. The Hipping vineyard site, a steep, chalky terroir, is among the estate's finest, producing Rieslings with exceptional minerality and depth.
The 2023 Hipping Großes Gewächs presents itself at its best: The nose unfolds a complex and multi-layered bouquet with notes of ripe white peach, citrus fruits, green melon, and floral hints, underscored by a distinctive, stony minerality. On the palate, the wine is powerful yet incredibly precise. The acidity is lively and refined, with a remarkable structure that makes the wine appear both fresh and profound. The body is elegant and concentrated, with the delicate fruit sweetness perfectly balanced by the clear, mineral freshness. The long, saline, and gripping finish underscores the remarkable longevity of this wine.
A Grand Cru of the highest quality, with the potential to become even more complex over time and benefit from years of aging. A wine that holds a special place for both collectors and connoisseurs of fine winemaking, and is sought after at auction for its elegance and structure.
