Produktbeschreibung

Westhofener Steingrube Albalonga Trockenbeerenauslese (0.375l) 1992

The Westhofener Steingrube Albalonga Trockenbeerenauslese 1992 from Weingut Wittmann is a remarkable sweet wine from the Rheinhessen wine-growing region. Weingut Wittmann, known for its biodynamically managed vineyards and its first-class wines, has created a true rarity with this wine. The Albalonga grape variety, a cross between Riesling and Silvaner, is rare in Germany but highly valued for its suitability for producing sweet wines.

The Westhofener Steingrube vineyard, with its calcareous soils and warm climate, offers ideal conditions for the ripening of grapes suitable for Trockenbeerenauslese wines. The grapes for Trockenbeerenauslese wines are susceptible to noble rot (Botrytis cinerea), which causes the water in the berries to evaporate, leaving behind highly concentrated aromas and sugars.

The 1992 vintage was very good for noble sweet wines in Rheinhessen, and this wine is likely characterized by intense aromas of dried fruit, honey, candied citrus, and caramel. The Albalonga variety adds an exotic fruit component and a clear, fresh acidity that balances the rich sweetness. With over 30 years of aging, the wine has likely developed exceptional depth and complexity, with notes of dried apricots, figs, and possibly hints of coffee, nuts, and spicy aromas.

A well-aged Trockenbeerenauslese from a renowned winery like Wittmann can age for decades and offers a unique tasting experience. This wine is an excellent accompaniment to desserts, especially fruit- or nut-based ones, as well as to hearty cheeses or simply as a fine meditation wine.
