Parker about Chambolle Musigny Les Amoureuses 1er Cru 1993
The 1993 Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru les Amoureuses, now at over 20 years of age, appears to have evolved an attractive bouquet with scents of raspberry, camphor and wild mint, all well defined. The palate is smooth and sensual on the entry, an amoureuses that is well balanced, although not as complex as other vintages that I have encountered with hints of seaweed and iodine surfacing on the finish. This Amoureuses is still youthful, despite its age, and personally I would leave this another five years.

Chambolle Musigny Les Amoureuses 1er Cru 1993

The 1993 Chambolle-Musigny Les Amoureuses 1er Cru from Domaine Comte Georges de Vogüé is an outstanding wine from one of Burgundy's most coveted Premier Cru vineyards. Often referred to as the "little Musigny," Les Amoureuses offers a rare combination of power, elegance, and finesse, which is particularly evident in the 1993 vintage. On the nose, the wine unfolds an enchanting bouquet of ripe red berries such as strawberries and raspberries, accompanied by floral notes of rose petals, violets, and a delicate minerality. Over time, subtle hints of undergrowth, herbs, and a touch of exotic spices develop.
On the palate, the wine is exceptionally refined, with silky-smooth tannins and a precise, almost sensual structure. The fruit is intense yet balanced, supported by a refreshing acidity that lends the wine vibrancy and elegance. The wine offers remarkable depth, and its mineral and spicy notes add further complexity. The finish is long, nuanced, and almost ethereal, with the floral and fruity aromas lingering long after the finish.
Despite difficult conditions, the 1993 vintage displays beautiful structure and density, and the Chambolle-Musigny Les Amoureuses from Comte Georges de Vogüé is an excellent example of the potential of this site. It offers an intense, sensual wine experience that will gain even more depth and expressiveness over time.
