Parker about Château de Rayne-Vigneau (0.375l) 2002
The 2002 Rayne-Vigneau has an attractive bouquet with subtle clear honey scents and a touch of peppermint. It shows great clarity for a Sauternes '02. The palate is well-balanced on the entry with nicely judged acidity. It is harmonious but not the most complex Sauternes of the vintage, yet it fans out towards the finish with delicate notes of creme caramel and a dash of spice. Drink now-2020+ Tasted April 2013.

Château de Rayne-Vigneau (0.375l) 2002

Château de Rayne-Vigneau 2002 is an elegant and balanced Sauternes with delicate sweetness and lively freshness. Despite difficult weather conditions, 2002 produced wines with clear, precise aromatics, and Rayne-Vigneau made optimal use of its terroir to create a harmonious, complex wine. Aromas of honey, candied citrus fruits, white flowers, and dried apricots dominate the nose, complemented by subtle hints of vanilla and roasted nuts. On the palate, the wine is full-bodied yet elegant, with a beautiful acidity structure that perfectly balances the sweetness. The texture is smooth and velvety, and the finish is long and characterized by notes of exotic fruits, caramel, and a delicate spice. Château de Rayne-Vigneau 2002 is a classic Sauternes with great aging potential, offering great enjoyment now but also destined to develop further over the coming years.
