Parker about Château Haut-Bergey 2000
I bought this wine for myself because I thought it was a sleeper of the vintage, and I couldn't be happier. My score in two tastings was identical to what it was seven years ago. Chocolatey espresso notes jump from the glass of this dark ruby/purple-colored wine. Full-bodied, with a silky texture, loads of concentration and density, this is a beautiful wine that is both hedonistically and intellectually pleasing.

Château Haut-Bergey 2000

Château Haut-Bergey 2000 is a remarkable wine from the Pessac-Léognan region that beautifully captures the essence of its terroir and the characteristics of the 2000 vintage.
On the nose, the wine reveals a rich bouquet of dark fruits such as cassis and blackberries, accompanied by subtle notes of tobacco, cedarwood, and a light smokiness. These aromas are complex and expressive, indicative of the ripeness of the grapes and the careful vinification.
On the palate, Château Haut-Bergey 2000 presents itself with impressive richness and structure. The tannins are ripe and well-integrated, resulting in a silky texture and a smooth mouthfeel. The fruit flavors are generous and concentrated, accompanied by a lively acidity that gives the wine freshness. Nuances of dark chocolate, espresso, and a mineral note contribute to the complexity and give the wine additional depth.
The finish is long and elegant, with a remarkable persistence of fruit and spice notes. Château Haut-Bergey 2000 is a wine of impressive quality and refinement, perfect for enjoying now but also with the potential for further aging in bottle. A true delight for lovers of great Bordeaux wines.
