Parker about Château La Mondotte 2003
A killer wine (I'm so sorry I didn't buy any), the 2003 La Mondotte is clearly one of the superstars of the vintage. An intriguing perfume of licorice, Asian soy, black currant jam, ripe cherries and subtle toast emerges from this extravagantly rich, voluptuously textured, opulent, full-bodied St.-Emilion. Just coming into full maturity, it is pure, rich and full. Drink it over the next decade or more.

Château La Mondotte 2003

Château La Mondotte 2003 is a remarkable vintage from the Saint-Émilion appellation, reflecting the exceptional quality and unique terroir of this winery.
On the nose, the wine presents intense aromas of dark berry fruits such as blackcurrants and blackberries, accompanied by subtle notes of spices, tobacco, and a hint of vanilla. These aromas are deep and complex, a result of the excellent ripeness of the grapes and the careful vinification in the 2003 vintage.
On the palate, Château La Mondotte 2003 displays impressive richness and structure. The tannins are ripe and well-integrated, giving the wine a silky texture and a harmonious mouthfeel. The fruit flavors are concentrated and powerful, supported by a lively acidity that lends the wine freshness and balance. Nuances of dark chocolate, coffee, and a subtle mineral note contribute to the complexity and give the wine additional depth.
The finish is long and elegant, with a remarkable persistence of fruit and spice notes. Château La Mondotte 2003 is a wine of great class and refinement, offering great drinking pleasure now, but also possessing the potential for slow development in the bottle. An excellent example of the quality and expertise of this outstanding Saint-Émilion winery.
