Parker about Château Lafaurie-Peyraguey 2002
The 2002 Lafaurie-Peyraguey has a refined bouquet with touches of beeswax, honeysuckle and dried quince that demands coaxing from the glass. The palate is well balanced with unctuous marmalade and honey on the entry, touches of bitter lemon coming through with fine tension on the finish. This is a 2002 that wants to be outdone by the previous vintage. While it does not reach the level of the 2001, it remains a commendable Sauternes.

Château Lafaurie-Peyraguey 2002

The 2002 Château Lafaurie-Peyraguey is an elegant Sauternes that displays beautiful intensity and balance despite the cooler vintage. The color is a brilliant golden yellow, mellowing to amber with age. The nose is dominated by aromas of candied citrus fruits, honey, and white flowers, underpinned by subtle hints of dried apricots and a subtle spice.
On the palate, the Lafaurie-Peyraguey 2002 unfolds a harmonious combination of sweetness and acidity. Its vibrant freshness carries aromas of honey, tropical fruits, and a hint of vanilla with a pleasant, silky texture. The finish is long and elegant, with a light minerality that lends it a particularly balanced feel.
An excellent accompaniment to foie gras, fruity desserts, or strong cheeses. The 2002 vintage is ready to drink now, but can age for several more years to further develop its complexity.
