Parker about Château Leoville Barton 2004

This is an impressively endowed vin de garde that should age effortlessly for 20-30 years. How Anthony Barton continues to fashion uncompromisingly primordial Bordeaux that are always among the biggest and densest of all the St.-Juliens is beyond me, but he does it year in and year out. Furthermore, when it's time to set the price, he appears to have the consumer foremost in his mind. The 2004 is a classic Leoville-Barton meant for long aging. Concentrated, with loads of smoke, creme de cassis, forest floor, and earthy notes emerge from this impressive, but oh, so backward wine.

Produktbeschreibung

Château Leoville Barton 2004

The Château Léoville Barton 2004 is an exquisite Bordeaux wine that beautifully expresses the characteristics of this renowned Saint-Julien vineyard. It exudes a deep red to garnet color, which visually conveys its intensity and depth. The initial aroma unfolds with a complex bouquet of black currants, plums, and cherries, complemented by subtle notes of cedarwood, tobacco, and a hint of spice, resulting from aging in French oak barrels.

On the palate, the 2004 vintage is powerful yet harmonious. The tannins are well-structured and lend the wine remarkable longevity, while the balanced acidity ensures freshness and elegance. Aromas of dark berries and cassis dominate the palate, accompanied by nuances of leather, earth, and a subtle minerality typical of the Saint-Julien terroir.

The finish is long and leaves a lasting impression of refinement and finesse. The Château Léoville Barton 2004 is a wine that is wonderfully suited to special occasions and also offers great potential for further aging in the bottle. Its expression of complexity and balance makes it an outstanding representative of Bordeaux wines and a delight for connoisseurs and enthusiasts alike.
