Hochheimer Stielweg Riesling Auslese dry 1997

The Hochheimer Stielweg Riesling Auslese dry 1997 from Weingut Künstler is a dry Riesling from the renowned Rheingau wine-growing region. Weingut Künstler, based in Hochheim am Main, is one of Germany's top producers and is known for its distinctive, elegant Rieslings.
The Hochheimer Stielweg vineyard is characterized by its deep soil and warm climate, providing the vines with optimal conditions for abundant fruit ripening. This Auslese dry wine was produced from selectively harvested, fully ripe grapes, but vinified dry, resulting in a concentrated, complex wine with intense aromas.
The 1997 vintage was a very good one in the Rheingau region, with excellent conditions for high-quality Rieslings. This wine should exhibit impressive structure, with aromas of ripe citrus fruits, peach, and possibly notes of herbs and spices. Over 20 years of aging have likely given the wine a distinct complexity, with additional aromas of honey, dried fruits, and a slightly nutty component. The minerality and a subtle petrol note typical of mature Rieslings could also be clearly expressed by now.
