Parker about Monte Vacano Riesling Magnum Auction Wine 2021

Bottled in July 2023 after 21 months on the first lees (one year after the Gräfenberg), the 2021 Monte Vacano, from a particular plot of the Gräfenberg, is an intensely yellow Riesling that opens with a pure, intense, even rich, finely saline and mineral nose with citrus notes. Round and elegant on the palate, this is a full-bodied, rich, intense, textural, enormously long, complex and saline, stimulatingly precise and tannic Monte Vacano with the power and richness of the Gräfenberg paired with the precision and salinity of the Castellum Montis. It is more hedonistic, although from a cooler year, but very, very long, saline and savory. Definitely a wine made for generations. To be released in April 2024.

Suckling Punkte 97

Suckling over Monte Vacano Riesling Magnum Auction Wine 2021

A huge and compact wine for the challenging 2021 vintage, but with the firm structure and vivid acidity that are typical for the vintage. Complex aromas of red gooseberry, white peach, fresh herbs and just a hint of sealing wax. Then comes the tidal wave of a finish that is stony and herbal in the best sense. From the steepest and stoniest section of the Grafenberg. Drink from release.

Produktbeschreibung

Monte Vacano Riesling Magnum Auction Wine 2021

The 2021 Monte Vacano Riesling Magnum Auction Wine from Weingut Robert Weil is an exclusive white wine that embodies the outstanding quality and rich heritage of this renowned Rheingau winery. This special wine is bottled in a magnum bottle and is available exclusively at auctions, underscoring its rarity and special status.

The 2021 vintage presents itself in a bright, glossy yellow with green reflections. On the nose, the wine unfolds a rich and intense bouquet of ripe citrus fruits, peaches, and white flowers, accompanied by subtle herbal notes and a pronounced minerality. On the palate, the wine impresses with a perfect balance of lively acidity and elegant fruit sweetness. The aromas of ripe fruit and citrus fruits continue, complemented by a striking minerality and depth. The finish is long, complex, and refreshingly clear.

This Riesling has great aging potential and, with optimal storage, can gain complexity and depth over many years. The vinification involves careful hand-picking and rigorous selection of the best grapes, followed by gentle pressing and slow, temperature-controlled fermentation to preserve the natural aromas and structure of the grapes. Aging takes place for many years on the fine lees in stainless steel tanks and traditional wooden barrels, which lends the wine additional depth, structure, and complexity.

The Monte Vacano Riesling Magnum Auction Wine 2021 is best served at around 8-10°C. It pairs perfectly with fine dishes such as seafood, fish, white meats, and Asian cuisine. It also makes an excellent pairing with fresh salads and fine cheeses. This combination of exclusivity, quality, and flavor makes this wine a true highlight for lovers of fine white wines.
