Suckling over Ölberg Riesling Grand Cru 2023
Enveloping stone fruit might sound sweet, but this is cool and restrained with terrific complexity. Enormous concentration and structure on the medium- to full-bodied palate, but it's the energy that almost knocks you off your chair. Very long and vibrant finish despite the moderate acidity. The mouthfeel is incredibly silky and delicate. From organically grown grapes. Stuart Pigott Senior Editor

Ölberg Riesling Grand Cru 2023

The 2023 Ölberg Riesling Großes Gewächs from Kühling-Gillot is a powerful yet elegant wine that perfectly reflects the characteristics of the site. Complex aromas of ripe citrus fruits, apricots, and a hint of exotic fruits unfold on the nose, accompanied by floral notes and a subtle spiciness. On the palate, the wine impresses with its lively acidity and deep minerality, which is characterized by the red clay slate soils of the Ölberg. The structure is dense yet delicate, with a harmonious balance between fruit, acidity, and minerality. The long finish is accompanied by a subtle salinity and a pleasant herbal note, which lends the wine additional depth. This Riesling has great aging potential and will gain complexity with age, but also offers great drinking pleasure even in its youth.
