Parker about Sauvignon Blanc Reserve 2022
Vinified in 500-liter tonneaux, including 35% new, 35% second-use and 30% older barrels, and inspired by Mersaults rather than any Sauvignon Blancs, the 2022 Sauvignon Blanc Réserve is picked from the top of the Morstein at an altitude of up to 265 meters above sea level. Deep and intense, rich, very elegant and slightly toasty, powerful but refined, this is a mouth-filling, complex and sustainable Sauvignon with a long, intense and saline finish. It aged sur lie for 20 months and was bottled in July 2024 with 13% stated alcohol and a natural cork. Tasted in August 2024.

Sauvignon Blanc Reserve 2022

The Sauvignon Blanc Réserve 2022 from Weingut Weedenborn is a high-quality, terroir-influenced Sauvignon Blanc that impressively combines elegance, depth, and power. The grapes come from limestone-rich, top-quality vineyards and are vinified with great care. On the nose, a complex interplay of aromas unfolds, featuring ripe gooseberry, yellow kiwi, and citrus zest, underscored by delicate herbal notes, subtle reduction, and an elegant wood spice from the careful aging in wooden barrels. On the palate, the wine presents a creamy texture, enormous depth, and perfectly integrated acidity that lends it freshness and excitement. The pronounced minerality adds refinement, while the long, savory and spicy finish underscores the great potential of this exceptional Sauvignon Blanc. A characterful, long-lasting wine that is ideal as a food accompaniment to rich fish dishes, seafood or aromatic cheeses and will gain in complexity with further maturation.
