Steinberger Riesling Ice Wine Auction Wine 1994

The 1994 Steinberger Riesling Eiswein from Kloster Eberbach is a true treasure from the Rheingau region, perfectly capturing the monastery's centuries-old winemaking tradition and the exceptional conditions of the 1994 vintage. This Eiswein comes from the steep vineyards surrounding Kloster Eberbach, whose history dates back to the 12th century.
The year 1994 was particularly cold in the Rheingau, creating ideal conditions for producing ice wine. The grapes for this wine were harvested in frosty temperatures, preserving and concentrating their natural sweetness and acidity. The ice wine presents a unique combination of intense aromas of tropical fruits, honey, and exotic spices, accompanied by a lively acidity structure and a long, elegant finish.
The production of this ice wine required extreme precision and craftsmanship to ensure the grapes were harvested at optimal ripeness and under the right conditions. After harvesting, the grapes were immediately pressed, leaving behind the frozen water content and using only the concentrated juice. The wine was then slowly fermented and subsequently aged in traditional oak barrels to develop its complexity and finesse.
