Vino Nobile di Montepulciano Asinone 1997

Poliziano 's Vino Nobile di Montepulciano Asinone 1997 is a prime example of the longevity and elegance of great Tuscan wines. The 1997 vintage in Tuscany was exceptionally good—warm, dry, and with optimally ripe grapes, producing powerful and harmonious wines.
The Asinone, named after the winery's best single vineyard site, is made almost exclusively from Prugnolo Gentile (a local Sangiovese variety) and matures for approximately 18 months in barriques . After more than 25 years, it is at a perfect stage of maturity: complex aromas of dried cherries, plums, and figs unfold on the nose , complemented by leather, tobacco, black tea, and fine toasted notes of cedarwood and dark chocolate. On the palate, it impresses with a harmonious structure, well-integrated acidity, and silky yet still lively tannins. Notes of dried herbs, truffle, and balsamic nuances add additional depth. The finish is long, elegant, and characterized by a subtle spiciness.
This aged Vino Nobile di Montepulciano should ideally be served at 16–18°C and decanted for at least one hour. Perfect as a companion to braised lamb, aged pecorino, or a classic game pasta dish. A wine that demonstrates that Asinone is one of the region's finest and most long-aging wines.
