The 2022 Mölsheim Zellerweg Am Schwarzen Herrgott GG reveals a delicately chalky bouquet with blueberry, woodruff and white pepper aromas. Silky and very elegant on the palate, this is a terribly fresh and mineral, finely tannic and persistently structured Riesling with lemon fresh bitters on the finish. This is a pure, lean but intense, full-bodied Riesling made to be aged for a decade. 12.5% stated alcohol. Natural cork. Tasted at the domaine in July 2023.

The very smoky and flinty nose pulls you inexorably into this dense and highly structured dry riesling, but those descriptors make the wine sound austere, whereas all this is wrapped in concentrated mirabelle fruit. The historic location Zellerweg Am Schwarzen Herrgott forms the border
Rheinhessen to the Palatinate and is one of the oldest documented locations
of the country. As early as 700 AD, it was mentioned by Saint Philip in his
Records mention it as the origin of the communion wine. The Zellerweg at
Schwarzen Herrgott is located at 170-250 meters with a slope of about 40% on the
Beginning of the Zellertal Basin. Right through this historic location runs
the border to the northern Palatinate. In times of loss of identity, in the

Since 2007, the Zellerweg path at the Schwarzer Herrgott has been protected as a Great
location and produces powerful, profound wines with saline and deep
dark character. The grapes are hand-picked after strict selection
harvested, spontaneously fermented and matured in single and double barrels.
The Zellerweg Am Schwarzen Herrgott shines in light straw yellow and has
always the darkest aroma of all our GGs. From dark fruit to dark
Spices to the slightly smoky top note, it is always
sealed and definitely needs a carafe. Herbal contours with aromas
of cocoa nibs and berries, this extremely terroir-
wine with smoky notes of tobacco, violet flowers, green
Mandarins, blackcurrant and blackberry leaves. With a creamy texture in
The first sip and dark aroma on the palate are permeated by the perfect
Integrated, vibrant acidity with pulsating bass. Aromatically tart,
Structurally tight, demanding and uncompromisingly straightforward, it symbolizes
its puristic style the essence of the Zellertal: dark fruity with chalky
Minerality, epochal length and cool finish.
The Zellerweg at the Schwarzer Herrgott harmonizes perfectly with
Bitter vegetables, mushrooms, or game dishes. Also with grilled fish dishes.
