Colheita Port 1934

Niepoort's 1934 Colheita Port is a stunning example of a 1934 vintage port. Colheita Ports are single-vintage ports aged in wooden barrels, unlike typical vintage ports, which are aged in bottles. Niepoort is known for its excellent ports, and the 1934 Colheita is certainly a remarkable and rare example.
Colheita Ports typically exhibit great complexity and richness, developed over decades. A 1934 Port like this would likely be deep dark in color, with aromas of dried fruit, nuts, caramel, spices, and perhaps some oak. The palate could be incredibly velvety and smooth, with a long, elegant finish.
Because it's such an ancient and precious wine, it's often considered a special occasion and treated accordingly. If you have the opportunity to taste or purchase this wine, it would be a real highlight for any wine lover.

Information about the winemaker:
The history of the traditional company begins almost 200 years ago, when Franciscus Marius van der Niepoort, a young, ambitious Dutchman from near Amsterdam, laid the foundation for the wine company. After emigrating to Portugal and gaining some experience in the wine trade, he founded today's winery in 1842. According to the region, he focused on port wines.
