The well-known winery JJ Prüm is located in Wehlen on the Moselle. Since it was founded by Johann Josef Prüm, the winery in Germany has stood for a place where delicious wines that are highly regarded around the world are made. Under the direction of the current owners Manfred, Wolfgang and Katharina Prüm, wines are created that impress with their quality and tradition. The unmistakable fruity and sweet wines have been able to develop their very own style over time, which gives the winery an excellent recognition value.
The beginning of Joh. Jos. prum
The year 1911 marks an important turning point in the history of German wineries. When Mathias Prüm died, he passed on his inheritance, the property of the winery, to his seven children. It was Johann Josef who founded and managed the wine-growing region and after whom it was ultimately named. In addition to this winery, a large number of other wineries were created as a result of the division.
Wines from the luxury segment with a unique touch of different aromas provide moments of maximum enjoyment. As a member of the Association of German Prädikat and Quality Wineries e. V., VDP for short, the winery Joh. Jos. Prüm from Bernkastel on the Moselle is one of the producers of sustainably matured wines of outstanding quality. The Riesling grapes, from which the winery presses its coveted quality wines, ripen on the Devonian and weathered slate soils of the Wehlener Sonnenuhr as well as in the Graacher Himmelreich, Bernkasteler Badstube and Zeltinger Sonnenuhr sites.
An exclusive winery
On a vineyard covering an area of 22 hectares, exquisite grape varieties thrive optimally on the sunny steep slopes of the Moselle. In addition to red wine, white wine and rosé, the repertoire of the local winegrowers also includes sparkling wines and champagne, including the noble Château Pauqué. Some local winemakers use traditional methods to make sweet dessert wine and even port wine. The exclusivity of the great wines that are produced here has a special value for the Prüm family: This means that outsiders are denied access to the legendary wine cellar.
The winery Joh. Jos. Prüm concentrates purely on the cultivation of the Riesling grape, from which a fruity white wine with natural residual sweetness and at the same time high acidity and minerality is produced. Already in the third and fourth generation, the company processes the grapes of excellent quality of a vintage into wine that convinces connoisseurs and critics. The premium wines of all vintages mostly receive 96 to 100 Robert Parker points. In addition to the James Suckling points, the Robert Parker points, each with a scale of up to 100, are a meaningful assessment of the quality of the matured wines. Highly rated 95 to 100 point wines not only impress with their excellent taste, but they are also ideal as an investment property.
